The Sussex Borough Council on June 30 unanimously approved an additional $200,000 to improve the borough’s sewer system at a special meeting.
The measure passed 4-0. Councilmen Nick Holowach and Jake Little were absent.
The cost of improving the borough’s sewer system, which was estimated in May at $1,925,000, is now estimated at $2,125,000, causing the borough to need an additional $200,000, which will be raised using additional bonds.
The money will pay for the construction and rehabilitation of the sewer force mains, as well as catch basins, pipes, pumps, structures, equipment, work and other necessary materials.
A total of $2,021,117 is now the estimated maximum.
The council introduced the ordinance at a special meeting on June 16.
