Agriculture scholarships available
EDUCATION. The Sussex County Farm & Horse Show and Sussex County Agriculture Society are offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college students.


Multiple scholarship opportunities are available to local students pursuing careers in agriculture.
The Sussex County Agricultural Society offers two scholarships.
One is for students who plan to pursue a program of study related to agriculture. To apply, send email to tgarris930@gmail.com. High school students may ask their guidance counselors for applications.
The Agricultural Society’s other scholarship, in cooperation with Clearing Corp., is for students who plan to major in agriculture and become farmers after graduation. Send email to jsmith2199@gmail.com for an application and information.
The New Jersey State Fair-Sussex County Farm & Horse Show’s Agriculture Division is offering scholarships for any Sussex County graduating high school senior or college student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the many fields of agriculture.

For the fair’s scholarship, applications may be mailed to the Ag. Scholarship Selection Committee, c/o G. Danko, P.O. Box 2456, Branchville, N.J. 07826.
The application deadline is April 15.
Gracie’s Scholarship
The Sussex County Board of Agriculture is accepting scholarship applications for students of any age to further their education in agricultural studies.
Gracie’s Scholarship, named for Grace Honigsberg, will be awarded to a Sussex County resident who has interest in a career in agriculture or agricultural field, such as farming of livestock, animal husbandry, horticulture (nursery production, field crop production, hydroponics and vegetable crop production), aquaculture, veterinary farm/large animal medicine, agricultural business or farm equipment maintenance mechanic.
Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to a college or technical institution program related to agriculture.
The application deadline is April 25.

Honigsberg was Miss Frankford Township in 2013 and a graduate of High Point High School. She was very active in Sussex County 4-H as a member in her youth and as a leader of several livestock clubs as an adult.
She was a member of several livestock associations and won top national awards for her livestock. She was the 2013 Sussex County Youth Agricultural Ambassador and was a member of the Sussex County Board of Agriculture, receiving the Next Generation of Agriculture Award in 2015.
She was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau and served as past president of the NewJersey Young Farmers and Ag Professionals.
Honigsberg died in 2022 after a two-year battle with injuries from a car accident.
