A nonprofit helping nonprofits

The NJ State Fair-Sussex County Farm & Horse Show is a nonprofit organization, and makes a point each year to support others at the fair.

After the pandemic, The NJ State Fair-Sussex County Farm and Horse Show started a new tradition: the Nonprofit Spotlight. As a nonprofit organization itself, the team behind the NJ State Fair wanted to find a way to support other charitable organizations that the Sussex County community depends on.

Through the fair’s Nonprofit Spotlight initiative, the fair provides charitable organizations with a free location at the fair. For the first time this year, the fair is upping the ante by helping these organizations with fundraising. Each day of the fair, there will be a designated “Non-Profit Spotlight” organization and attendees will have an opportunity to contribute a dollar to that organization when paying for their admission to the fair.

A different organization will be spotlighted each day at the fair:

Friday, Aug. 2: Family Promise of Sussex County

Saturday, Aug. 3: Sussex County Food Pantry

Sunday, Aug. 4: Benny’s Bodega

Monday, Aug. 5: Project Self Sufficiency

Tuesday, Aug. 6: Ginnie’s House

Wednesday, Aug. 7: Veterans; LTC. Ernie Kosa Scholarship Fund & County Veterans Pin Design

Thursday, Aug. 8: SCARC

Friday, Aug. 9: Weekend Bag Program

Saturday, Aug. 10: Maverick’s Legacy

Blood Drive

In addition to the daily Nonprofit Spotlights the fair will once again be helping the Kittatinny Masonic Lodge with its annual Blood Drive. Donors receive free admission to the Fair.

The Bloodmobile will be outside gate 3. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the Customer Care Center at 1-877-258-4825 or visiting donors.vitalant.org using the code XMKL.
