Last Friday, the day before Veterans Day, I put out numerous boxes, bags and other goods for the United War Veterans Council as donations.
The items were clearly marked with the initials of the organization.
At approximately 8 in the morning, my dogs barked and I looked out the window. I saw a hefty man with brown hair in a silver SUV (yes, I saw what you and your vehicle looked like) parked in my driveway.
He was looking through the boxes and going through the donated items I had left out specifically for the organization.
With my trustworthy nature, I assumed that he was with the organization to pick up the donations that I had put out and was looking to see if they could use the items and determine the value to leave a receipt for tax purposes.
About five minutes later, he was gone. I was still under the impression that he was with the organization and would come back for the rest of the items that were still in my driveway.
I went outside to look and see if a ticket was left for me or a note stating that they would be back. When I didn’t see a note outside, I came to the realization that this man had come to steal items that he wanted - most of them new Christmas gifts with the tags still on them.
To that man who had the audacity to park in my driveway and steal items that were meant as donations for veterans who fought for our rights and freedoms, I hope you feel mighty good about yourself giving away these gifts on Christmas to your loved ones.
You are a despicable human being. In the future if this happens, I will be going outside with my two dogs, and I will take down your license plate number and report you to the police.
May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas.
