Vernon — A busload of senior citizens from Vernon helped make up the more than 200 people who attended the Project Healthy Living Kick Off that was presented by the Sussex County Division of Senior Services at the Adam Todd, in Andover, last Friday. In addition, attendees included Vernon’s mayor Sally Rinker and Pat Segar, the township’s director of recreation, who helped send Vernon’s seniors to the event. “Vernon wants its seniors to stay healthy and take advantage of every opportunity,” said Shirley Baldwin, who is an active Vernon senior citizen. Mary Lou Schnurr, director of Senior Services for Sussex County, was in charge of the program and explained that nearly half of all adults in America live with at least one chronic disease. They may feel pain, fatigue, anger or depression as a result, any of which can interfere with their lives. The push, therefore, is for senior citizens to keep living healthy and active lives.
