VTHS honors outstanding athletes

VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. has honored named its Athletes of the Week for Week 6 of the winter 2017-18 season.
Sophomore John Alvarez just completed a sweep of all three of his opponents at the North Warren Quad this past Saturday.
According to Coach Piontkowski, John has developed very nicely this year in the 160-pound weight class. He has shown tremendous leadership skills in the practice room and during team matches. John currently holds a 14-9 individual match record. John also participates on the boy’s lacrosse team.
Senior Tea Brich has picked up right where she left off last season for the girls ski team. Tea has been rock solid, winning two Giant Slalom races, and has helped the girls stay competitive with the top teams in NJ.
Tea is also a key contributor to the girls' varsity soccer team.
