VTHS honors outstanding athletes

The Vernon Township Athletic Dept. has named its Athletes of the Week for Week 1 of the fall 2019 season.
Senior Caleb Gibson tallied 4 goals and 1 assist last week for the varsity boys soccer team in wins over Newton and Lenape Valley. Gibson scored both goals in the team’s dramatic win over Newton on the road.
According to Coach Jones, Gibson is an emotional leader on the team. He has a great work ethic and leads by example with encouragement and fitness.
Gibson is a 3-sport athlete who also participates in winter and spring track.
Senior Liv Vizzini tallied 21 kills, 17 digs, 1 assist and 1 service ace last week for the varsity girls volleyball team. As the lone returning starter from last season, Vizzini has flourished as one of the teams leaders. According to Coach Sorensen, she brings a stabilizing presence to the team with her high level of play and high character.
Vizzini is a 2-sport athlete who also leads the softball program.
