VTHS honors outstanding athletes
Vernon. The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. has named Cristian Vintimilla of the cross-country team and Zach Waschek of the football team were named athletes of the Week for Week 10 of the fall 2019 season.

The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. has named its Athletes of the Week for the fall 2019 season.
Sophomore Cristian Vintimilla placed second overall for Vernon and 8th overall individually in the North 1 Group 2 State sectional cross country meet this past weekend at Garrett Mountain. The Boys Team finished eighth out of 20 teams.
According to Coach Shenise, Vitimilla has been consistent and reliable in the boys scoring all season. He has great work ethic and leadership.
The boys team recently completed an undefeated season in the NJAC Colonial Division.
Junior quarterback Zach Waschek finished his season completing 18 of 34 passes and throwing for two TD’s in the Vikings loss to Lakeland.
Waschek set school records in completions and passing yards for the varsity football team this season.
According to coach Steve Down, Zach has been instrumental in the team’s growth this season and has been a great leader and role model for the younger kids in the program.
