Vernon honors outstanding athletes
VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its athletes of the week for the winter 2017-18 season.
Junior Jeremy Kayhart, first year wrestler has proven to be a great leader in and out of the wrestling room this season.
Jeremy just competed at the District 3 Tournament this past Saturday and placed fourth. He just missed out, moving on to the Region 1 Tournament.
According to Coach Piontkowski, he is an extremely hard-working, dedicated and respectful young man. He anticipates great things from Jeremy next season. Jeremy also participates on the football and lacrosse teams.
Sophomore Kyle Hayes has led the boys ski team this season on and off the mountain. The team has picked up right where they left off last year, winning the Public State Championship. Kyle just won the Petro Invitational Race this past Tuesday. He is ranked in the top three of the state in the giant slalom and slalom for boys.
According to Coach Ludeking, Kyle is extremely passionate about skiing and works hard every day to improve his skills.
Kyle also participates on the Soccer and Track and Field teams.
