Simply Dance kicks off competition season

VERNON — Simply Dance, located at 3 Church Street in Vernon, has kicked off their competition season by attending their first competition, “That’s Entertainment,” in Secaucus, on Feb. 21.

Simply Dance competes in tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical/contemporary. This year Simply Dance has 20 routines that are comprised of solos, duet/trios and small and large groups.

“Rock Star," a solo performed by Cassidy Moore, received a High Gold third-place award. “Precious One," a solo performed by Julissa Llosa, received a High Gold first-place award. “Trouble,” a jazz solo performed by Delaney Mackey, received a solid gold second-place award. “True Colors” a lyrical solo performed by Delaney Mackey, received a Solid Gold second-place award. “Addicted to Love,” a contemporary solo performed by Sophia Tremont, received a Solid Gold first-place award. “Gravity," a lyrical solo performed by Abby Higgins, received a High Gold fourth-place award. “Killing Me Softly," a lyrical solo performed by Alyssa Trimlett, received a High Gold third-place award. “Mercy,” a tap solo performed by Michelle Miani, received a Solid Gold second-place award. “Anyway," a lyrical duet performed by Jillian Spirko and Delaney Mackey, received a Solid Gold first-place award. “Heartbreaker," a jazz duet performed by Jaclyn Lehman and Janelle Colyer received a Solid Gold second-place award, as well as a special award for “Perfect Precision." “They’re Everywhere," a hip hop duet performed by Vincent Boutillette and Matt VanVliet received a High Gold 1st place award. “We Belong Together”, a tap duet performed by Julissa Llosa and Cassidy Moore received a Solid Gold first-place award. “I Like to Fuss," a character trio performed by Julissa Llosa, Cassidy Moore and Sydney Schwertdfeger received a High Gold award. “If No One Will Listen," a lyrical duet performed by Abby Higgins, Sophia Tremont and Alyssa Trimlett received a Solid Gold first-place award along with a special award for “Perfect Transitions." “My Boyfriend's Back”, an age 5-6 jazz group received a High Gold first-place award, as well as a special award. “My Nightmare," an age 11-12 jazz group received a Solid Gold second-place award, as well as the Judge’s Choice award for the favorite routine of the entire competition. “Sassy," an age 11-12 jazz group, received a Solid Gold first-place award. “No Day But Today," an age 11-12 lyrical group received a Solid Gold first-place award. “Boom," an age 15-16 small group jazz received a High Gold 2nd place award. “Hand Jive”, a large group jazz in ages 9-10 category received a Solid Gold 1st place as well as a special award for “Most Entertaining Routine”. Simply Dance also won the Sportsmanship Award.

Simply Dance has 30 members on their competition team.
