Mountain Creek open on April 1
Vernon — Mountain Creek celebrates one of the longest ski seasons in recent years as skiing and riding continue at the Resort on and after April Fool’s Day.
The miracle produced by the Mountain Creek groomers produced great corduroy which attracted not only skiers who skied the mountain since it opened in the late 1960s but newer visitors who have learned the fun of skiing and riding at Mountain Creek.
Many would think that skiers and riders would be ready to take out the golf clubs by the beginning of April but not the die-hards who ski and ride at Mountain Creek. With the ski season extended through the 1st week of April skiers and riders of all ages could not get enough of a great ski season gathered at the South Lift at the Mountain Creek Resort to enjoy another great day on the slopes.
The extended ski season at Mountain Creek also produced a new record for the number of days of skiing and riding in New Jersey and at the Mountain Creek Resort. The old record of 104 days of skiing held by Buffy and John Whiting has been blown away by the Whitings and their snowboarding friend Ryan Mastrianni. With the Resort extending the ski season through April 7 both had 106 days of skiing and riding as of April 1 with the potential for the record to grow to 112 days on snow by the actual closing day making the 2019 ski season the best on record.
