New blood in Vernon

Sally Rinker was sworn in to her new seat on the Vernon Township Council and then elected by her fellow council members to serve as mayor. New member Harry Shortway, after being sworn in for his first term on council, was elected to the position of deputy mayor. Both are two-year terms. Rounding out the council, new member Michael Pier was sworn in to serve on the council during the township’s Jan. 1 reorganization meeting.
