Zumba-thon planned at Elks Lodge
SUSSEX — Zumba instructors Palmira Huber and Jayme Wolff will host a Zumba-thon at the Sussex Elks Lodge from 7 until 9 p.m. Nov. 15.
The event will benefit the Friends of Wantage Animals, a group that helps support the Wantage Pound. The requested donation is $20 per dancer.
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance exercise class. Palmira’s dance style is graceful, feminine, and vigorous. The event is open to all ages.
The Wantage Animal Pound services Andover, Franklin, Hamburg, Hardyston, Lafayette, Montague, Newton, Ogdensburg and Wantage. The Wantage Pound was started in 1972 with the intention of housing only ten dogs. Over the year, the mission of the pound has expanded. The Wantage Pound’s total space is only 1,400 square feet. The current facility is in need of expansion. The Wantage Animal Pound takes care of hundreds of animals per year. Dogs, cats, and a variety of local wildlife receive care at the center.
Each Zumba-thon dancer may receive $5 off the entrance fee if they bring needed items. The Wantage Pound is in need of paper towels, speedy dry, bleach, dry pet foods, canned cat food (patte only), towels, blankets, linens and dog bedding.
The Zumba-thon will consist of two 45-minute sessions. No prior Zumba experience required for participants. Wear comfortable clothes and bring your dancing sneakers. The Sussex Elks Lodge is located at 152 Lewisburg Road, (Route 565), Wantage, N.J. 07461. For more information, contact Palmira Huber at 862-432-2966 or FOWAS at fowas.contact@gmail.com.
