YMCA to unveil addition
HARDYSTON — Area residents can enjoy swimming, fitness class demonstrations, fireside s’mores, and an ice-carving sculpture during a Jan. 13 open house at the newly expanded Sussex County YMCA.
The free event, from noon to 4 p.m., follows an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting to celebrate completion of the 9,000-square-foot addition (including a gymnasium) that will benefit members and the community at large. “The addition gives us much-needed room and flexibility to expand programs that promote residents’ wellness and increase youth and family programming,” Sussex County YMCA Executive Director Jennifer Gardner said.
The project includes more wellness space, renovated program space and a redesigned lobby with a climbing structure for kids. The YMCA now has a cycle room for spin classes, and the locker rooms and bathrooms have been redone.
Guests at the open house have a chance to win a three-month membership and other giveaways. Anyone who registers for the Winter 1 session will be entered in a raffle for a one-year membership. The Y is waiving the joiner fee for everyone who signs up by Jan. 15.
The open house includes use of the gym and pool, arts and crafts, and hot chocolate. Food trucks will also be available. To find out more, go to sussexcountyymca.org, call 973-209-9622 or visit the facility at 15 Wits End Road.
