Woman's Club to collect shoes after quarantine
Vernon. The Township Woman's Club was going to begin a community-wide collection of children's shoes before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. The club will collect shoes after the quarantine ends.
Before the coronavirus brought life as we know it to a screeching halt, the Vernon Township Woman's Club was preparing to begin a community-wide collection of children's shoes for an organization that turns unwanted shoes into opportunity and relief.
Soles4Souls partners with women’s shelters, veterans’ organizations, children’s programs and schools to get shoes and clothing to those who need it most in the U.S. and around the world. Since 2006, the organization (soles4souls.org) has distributed more than 35 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries.
If your projects during this period of self-quarantine include cleaning out your closets, consider donating any children’s shoes up to size 13 that you no longer need. Put them aside for now, and the club will announce drop off locations throughout the area when the project gets underway.
Questions about the collection may be directed to Karen at 973-670-4506.
