Woman’s Club honors its members
Vernon. Lisa Mills was named to the Vernon Woman’s Club’s prestigious honor roll as the club honored the extraordinary contributions of two of its members.
The Vernon Township Woman’s Club recently acknowledged the extraordinary contributions of two members by presenting them with the highest awards available to clubwomen for 2022.
Lisa Mills was named to the club’s prestigious Honor Roll. Her name and a tribute to her, will be permanently inscribed in the Honor Roll Book at the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs headquarters in New Brunswick. Her service to the club involves holding many executive board positions, including president in 2016-18, working on numerous committees, and serving as the Communications Chair since joining the club in 2008.
During the award presentation, Membership Chair Joan Danaher said, “Lisa’s intellectual vitality, outstanding ability and loyalty make the Vernon Township Woman’s Club a stronger, more effective group. Her written words reflect her wisdom and kindness, and her exceptional articles in local newspapers have significantly increased our membership.”
Maureen Blandino, a member for nearly 50 years, was honored with the Order of the Lily, which recognizes the contributions of women who have been previously distinguished by enrollment on the Honor Roll. She chaired the Membership Committee for many years, and has served on a myriad of other committees. As the current Domestic Abuse Committee Chair, one of her many responsibilities is collecting and delivering monthly donations for residents of the safe house managed by Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Intervention Services (DASI).
While paying homage, Danaher said, “Maureen brings her engaging smile to everything she does. Her gracious friendliness and sincere devotion to DASI shines through every time she talks about the women and children at the shelter, and her enthusiasm inspires us to help others in need.”
