Students from Vernon Township High School attended the St. Peter’s University Model United Nations simulation in Jersey City on March 2 and 3.
Students represented the Russian Federation and had to debate topics relating to the rights of transgendered peoples to the Kashmir conflict on the Indian-Pakistan border.
Students prepared throughout the year, wrote position papers, and collaborated with more than 300+ students throughout New Jersey during the simulation.
Ryan Lally, a senior and member of the Security Council, said, “Model UN really forces you to take a global perspective and to sometimes adopt a completely different point of view than your own when representing another country. Working to create resolutions to solve real-world problems just adds to the fun of this experience.”
