Some of Vernon’s leading landscaping companies spent Monday at the Vernon Police Athletic League building as part of the annual PLANET Day of Service, which is organized by the members of the Professional Landcare Network, a national trade association of lawn and landscape professionals that was established in 2005.

The day gives members of the lawn and landscape industry an opportunity to plan, organize and carry out service projects that benefit their communities. Contributing labor and materials this year were Countryside Landscaping, Adam Hayn Construction, New Magic Landscaping and Native Fields Landscaping. Heaven Hill Farms donated flowers for the gardens and Valley Mason offered a special discount for some of the curbing materials used. The event was once again coordinated by Jay Meerendonk, the owner of Countryside Landscaping.
