The Vernon Dog Park held its annual Halloween fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 19.
About 35 dogs participated in the festivities, which included a costume parade, a “Count the Cookies” dog biscuit guessing game, and handcrafted fleece scarves on sale for a $5 donation.
Organizers said the event was a great success.. It costs about $700/month to keep the park running, and the park is maintained by D.O.G.S. of Vernon, a local 501(3)(c) nonprofit that does not receive taxpayer funding.
The next fundraiser is Pictures with Santa Paws on Saturday Nov. 23 from 1-3 p.m. at Pochuck Valley Fire House during the vendor fair. Dogs and kids can be in the pictures with Santa and Mrs. Paws
