Vernon Chamber holds Street Fair Sept. 7
VERNON. The Main Street area will be closed to traffic that day and will offer fair-like atmosphere with local businesses, crafts and treats, in addition to family-friendly activities.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Vernon Chamber of Commerce is holding its Fifth Annual Street Fair, which is free to the public. This event will once again be held on Main Street between Route 94 & Guthrie Road from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine, with parking available in the Vernon Valley Plaza (Acme) parking lot off of Route 515 and the Vernon Municipal Parking Lot on Church Street. There will be shuttle buses available generously sponsored by Decker Transportation and Krapf Bus Company.

Children’s activities will include Salt Clay Crafts, EaZy Bubbles, an Inflatable Slide, Bounce House, Pixie Pop Clown, Character Greetings hosted by the VTHS Theater Program, face painting, temporary tattoos, and contests.
As a special treat, musical entertainment by The Spins will be offered all day as well as other local musicians. A demonstration will also be presented by Vernon Valley Karate.
Returning this year, a full schedule of events will be hosted including a Corn-on the-Cob Eating Contest, “Donut on a String” and “Cookie Face” Races. Prizes are sponsored by Heaven Hill Farm, Pochuck Valley Farms, Dunkin Donuts and the Vernon Chamber of Commerce. In additon, the Vernon Township Women’s Club is offering an “Anything Pumpkin Recipe” challenge. All ages and types of pumpkin dishes are welcome to compete for cash prizes of $100 for First Place, $75 for Second Place and $50 for Third Place. Prizes are being sponsored by Stephanie Scilingo Insurance Producer and the Vernon Chamber Of Commerce. All dishes must be entered in advance and dropped off between 10am and 12pm.
The Street Fair is a celebration of Vernon’s community with all spaces being sold out this year. In addition to the great local businesses and non-profits attending, the Street Fair will include food vendors such as Tomato Garden, Healthy Thymes, Russo Bros Zeppoles, Juan Zerna Ice Cream Truck, Mitch’ s Roadside Grill, Sue’s House of Fudge and more. Enjoy savory and sweet treats available for purchase for everyone.
