Sussex-Wantage Library plans storytelling program

| 04 Jan 2016 | 12:06

The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library will host a storytelling program for adults featuring master storyteller Ken Karnas on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.

Before television, radio, or print, humans used face-to-face oral language to communicate, educate, impart values, and entertain. Our ancestors knew the value of wrapping a message in a story and telling it, not only to children, but to adults.

Karnas will tell a collection of Sussex-Wantage tales such as “The Farmer’s Fun-Loving Daughter” and “It Happened on Mt. Salem Road.” These stories were all constructed or adapted for an adult audience. Refreshments featuring local specialties will also be served.

Space is limited for this program for adults. To register, call the library at 973-875-3940 or register online at www.sussexcountylibrary.org.

A snow date has been scheduled for Jan. 30 at 2 p.m.
