Sussex tables repayment contract
SUSSEX — The Sussex Borough Council unanimously resolved to table a request from Storage Solutions, Inc., of Hamburg to accept $5,733 owed for water and sewer and to waive about $2,500 in interest, during its Feb. 18 meeting.
The council pushed the resolution to its March 4 meeting giving Borough Attorney Francis J. McGovern time to may review the information.
The council collectively had concerns about the type of precedent that might be set if it went along with the request.
Councilman Bruce LaBar said it was a unique situation. He was on the council when it started before 2009.
LaBar said Storage Solutions came “a couple of administrations ago” asking on “bended knee” for a toilet and sink sewage hookup in a swamp area. However, Storage Solutions did not pay “one penny” due to a dispute regarding the billing.
Former Borough Attorney John Ursin was involved in the negotiations with Storage Solutions. He had wanted to wait for the High Ridge Development group situation to be resolved. Currently, High Ridge owes around $322K in sewer money.
McGovern said he would need a "chance to review and take a look at the contract.”
