Sussex Elks hosts Armed Forces Day
WANTAGE — Saturday marked Armed Forces Day and members of the Sussex Elks Lodge #2288 invited area military personnel and veterans for a fine dinner that included roast beef and chicken breast along with several other dishes with a choice of cakes for dessert.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Assemblyman Parker Space briefly addressed those in attendance. Announcements during the evening get-together included the upcoming May 31 “A Salute to Our Veterans” event at High Point Monument and the Nov. 1 Sussex County’s 15th Annual Salute to Military Veterans at the county fairgrounds.
Also mentioned was a “Tribute to Our Troops” weekend (July 31–Aug. 2) also at the fairgrounds, and new veteran’s driver’s licenses and auto plates.
