Susses MS safety team serves hot chocolate in cold
SUSSEX — Students arrived at the Sussex Middle School with rosy cheeks and numb fingertips because of the freezing weather on Jan. 21.
But as it turned-out, this was no ordinary cold January day. As students, chilled from the frigid weather, piled into the auditorium, they were welcomed by cups of warm and creamy hot chocolate. Bus drivers received a surprise welcome as well, with students personally delivering the chocolaty treat.
At first many of the students were surprised because no one could remember being welcomed to school quite like this before. As their hands warmed around the cups of hot chocolate, they found out that this gesture was courtesy of the Sussex Middle School's School Safety Team, comprised of select students in grades 6 through 8, dedicated to improving school climate.
The team, teachers Cristin Longo and Kaleigh Ralph organized and hosted the event, arriving at school early, preparting andd serving the hot chocolate
