Augusta man cited for DWI
On April 18 at approximately 2 a.m., Sparta Police officer Thomas Herd stopped a black BMW for failing to maintain its lane on Route 15 north.
After approaching and speaking with the driver, Leslaine Lambert, 62, of Augusta, N.J., Officer Herd suspected that Mr. Lambert had been operating his vehicle after consuming alcoholic beverages.
Officer Herd requested that Lambert step out of his vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. Upon completion of the tests, Lambert was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Sparta Police headquarters for breathalyzer testing.
After completion of breathalyzer tests, Lambert was charged with DWI and Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel. He was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to a sober adult.
