Sierra Club to host Turtle Talk

| 01 Mar 2019 | 01:46

New Jersey is home to 11 species of turtles, but how much do we really know about them?
Anyone who wants to learn is welcome to attend “Turtle Talk,” a free presentation hosted by the Skylands Sierra Club, on Tuesday, March 12, 7-9 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 1 West Nelson St., in Newton.
Turtle expert Harriet Forrester, founder of Turtle Rescue of New Jersey located in Hardwick, NJ, will explain how turtles evolved, their behaviors and senses, and what threats they face today. As a New Jersey licensed wildlife rehabilitator, she will talk about what to do if you find an injured turtle and offer tips on how to make the world a better place for turtles. In addition, Forrester promises to “bust some common myths about these marvelous shelled creatures."
