Seniors compete and eat at Halloween party

VERNON — About 80 Vernon seniors attended the annual Halloween party last Thursday.
The afternoon also included a costume contest and parade. Winners were selected by the seniors themselves through their applause levels, with five finalists chosen. After the selection was narrowed down to three, the first-place prize went to Jean Mize of Barry Lakes. Her big white chicken costume won her a bottle of Martinelli’s Gold Medal Sparkling Cider and a Bull’s-eye Bingo lottery card.
Following lunch, the seniors were treated to what recreation director Melissa Wiedbrauk referred to as “spooktacular” treats.
