VERNON — Wawayanda State Park’s swimming season came to a close on Monday as the lifeguards headed back to school.
For Vernon residents, the Wawayanda Road/Barry Lakes Auxiliary Entrance Gate will remain open through Saturday, Oct. 31. The gate will be open on Saturdays and Sundays only from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
On three-day holiday Weekends, the gate will be open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A 20-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than 60 miles of trails are marked in the park.
