High Point BOE VP steps down

The High Point Regional High School Board of Education on June 28 accepted the resignation of board Vice President Spencer Arnold, who will move out of the district to accept a new job.

Arnold, 24, has served on the Board of Education for about three years, and as school board vice president for the last 18 months. His term on the board was set to expire at the end of 2022.

“I really have to commend you for that,” Board of Education member Joseph Corazza said. “Your insight and your input have been invaluable. I wouldn’t have been doing this at 24.”

Earlier in the meeting, Superintendent Scott Ripley presented Arnold with a plaque commemorating his service to the district.

“I want to say that Mr. Arnold quickly earned the respect of the board and all who attended our board meetings with his incisive thoughts, challenging questions and his interest in the whole business of education, and how it worked,” Ripley said. “He has been invaluable to his community and has represented Wantage exceedingly well. It’s something about which I’m hopeful he’s proud. We’re proud to have had him here and we wish him nothing but the best.”

Board of Education President Wayne Dunn said Arnold has been invaluable to him during his two terms as president. Arnold was involved in negotiations with other bodies about shared service agreements, and other negotiation settings.

“I hope you do well in your relocation and your new job,” Dunn said. “We’re sorry to see you go but thank you for everything you’ve given to High Point.”
