VERNON — Longtime Vernon resident Kristine Nelson has opened a new business, The Constant Gardener. Nelson has 20 years of experience both professionally and personally. She has worked as a seasonal naturalist for Wawayanda State Park, and at the greenhouses at Heaven Hill Farms, where she designed custom planters and offered her expertise to help customers’ gardens flourish. She has worked as a gardener for landscape companies, most notably R&S Landscaping in Midland Park.

She is offering several different services to help home gardens stay healthy and looking great.

Side-by-side gardening helps the novice gardener distinguish weeds from desirable plants. Nelso will also offer tips and techniques ensuring the garden’s success.

For those who do not have the time or ability to tend their gardens, flower bed maintenance takes the work out of gardening. Nelson says whe maintains her clients' garden spaces as if they were her own. She digs out weeds from the root, does light pruning and removes the debris when done.

For vacationing homeowners, Nelson offers a watering service.

Nelson's garden design service gives homeowners a chance to tap into her expertise for advice on how to enhance areas where the homeowner would like to see color or foliage. When designing she takes into account the client’s preferences of color, form and texture. Using her extensive knowledge of plants and their particular requirements she helps homeowners select the right plant for the right place, including those plants that are deer resistant.
