First aid volunteer honored

WANTAGE — Assemblyman Parker Space and Mayor Ronald Bassani honored 18-year-old Wantage First Aid Squad volunteer Nicholas McKenney on Thursday, Feb. 25, for helping a mother deliver twins.
Mayor Ronald Bassani said the second responder happened to be his older brother.
McKenney comes from a line of first responders. His mom has been an EMT, serving Sussex and Wantage, and his dad trains EMTs.
Space congratulated McKenney for his service on behalf of the N.J. Assembly and state Senate. He added that it makes Wantage proud to have young people who give back to the community.
Bassani gave McKenney the Mayor's Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution and said he is his nephew.
The resolution may be adopted at the Committee's March 2 meeting.
Kienz said the deadline will not be the end of the litigation, because there will still be a public hearing, first, and second readings. He added it should be a little easier to meet the deadline because both Bassani and Committeeman Bill Gaechter also are members of the Land Use Board.
Last year, the state Supreme Court ruled the lower courts will decide on a case-by-case basis the number of homes to be made available for low-to-moderate income residents, thus, resulting in the COAH litigation for Wantage Township.
