The Clifton E. Lawrence School welcomed the Sussex County Child Assault Program (CAP) into their schools Dec. 14 and 15.

The CAP program teaches first-grade students to recognize potential dangerous situations and strategies to deal with them. CAP facilitators encourage students to be safe, strong, and free through a variety of role playing scenarios and brainstorming sessions.

The program complements a new Olweus character education program being implemented throughout the Sussex-Wantage Regional School District.

The CAP program is also taught in grades 4 and 7. It is funded through a grant and organized by school social worker, Julie Tremont.
