Byram. On June 23, the Byram Township Police Department concluded a joint investigation with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark into potential human trafficking violations at the Byram Spa located on Route 206.
The assistance provided by HSI and collaborative effort between agencies were pivotal in determining that the business was operating an unapproved and illegal massage establishment most likely used for prostitution.
As a result of the investigation the Byram Spa was shut down indefinitely by township officials. The owner of the property where the Byram Spa is located was cooperative and helpful throughout the investigation.
