Healthy Thymes Market, a locally-owned independent natural health store in Vernon recently reported on a new large study across 14 U.S. Veterans Affairs Medical Centers that found vitamin E extended the activities of independent daily living by more than six months in those with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.

The report is part of the April, 2014, issue of Natural Insights for Well Being, which Healthy Thymes Market publishes free each month for Vernon residents and friends to learn more about the benefits of good nutrition and healthy lifestyle. Also in the April issue, Omega-3 fatty acids slowed the effects of aging in older adults; Vitamin K improved memory, and plant-based nutrients called sterols reduced chances of heart attack in men, among other important findings.

Everyday nutrients help preserve good vision, maintain bone health, and improve body composition, as several studies this month confirm, said Dani Segal, PhD, owner of Healthy Thymes Market.
