VERNON — Continuing its annual holiday tradition, the Vernon Township Woman's Club made a dozen 24-inch Christmas stockings and stuffed them with personal items and snacks for U.S. soldiers serving abroad.
The stockings were sent to Boatsie's Boxes, a nonprofit organization in West Virginia that will, in turn, ship them overseas.
This program is run through the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs and ultimately sends thousands of stockings to our servicemen and women every year.
Club President Lois Marples sewed the stockings using colorful holiday fabric. She is flanked by Public Issues Committee Chair Debra Piccirillo (right) and Committee member Judy Phillips who helped stuff and ship the stockings.
