VERNON — Members of area law enforcement helped parents ensure their children's child-safety seats were properly installed and in good working order Sunday at the Highland Lakes Clubhouse.
Workers and volunteers came from the police departments of Vernon, Andover, Sparta, Newton, and Pequannock, the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office and the North New Jersey Safe Kids organization. The Highland Lakes Fire Department and the Vernon Ambulance Squad also were on hand.
The children got to explore fire engines, an ambulance, and the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office’s mobile command station while their car seats were examined and adjusted.
