Ayla Mancini, a seventh-grader at Sussex Middle School, has been selected to perform in the New Jersey Junior All-State Choir.

This is the first time that the school is participating in the state-level choir competition.

Ayla, 12, was one of only 41 students from across the state chosen for the alto voice part.

“I’ve always loved to sing since I can remember,” she said. “Our choir has grown a lot, and I am thankful to be a part of the group.”

Ayla’s music teacher and choral director, Teresa Westling, said, “I couldn’t be prouder to have had the privilege of guiding her in this musical journey. Ayla has shown incredible perseverance throughout the process, and this is a well-deserved recognition of her talent.”

Westling added, “This is a huge milestone not only for Ayla but for our entire school. I am beyond excited to see our choir continue to thrive with passionate students like Ayla.”
