Independence Celebrations

Sparta July 4. Watch the Fire Department-sponsored parade at 1 p.m., marching down East Shore Trail through the plaza and finishing at the Mohawk Avenue School. There will also be fireworks at the Lake Mohawk Country Club at 9 p.m. For more information, call (973) 729-4493. Franklin June 30-July 3. Come enjoy the free carnival at Franklin Pond Recreational Area. Hours are: Wednesday and Thursday 6 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 6 to 11 p.m. The rides, food, and games are fun for all ages. Entertainment will be provided by WSUS Radio, with a different DJ each night. There will also be Little Miss, Little Mister, Junior Miss and Miss Teen competitions. Come to the Wayne Valley High School field on Valley Road for entertainment, food, clowns, magicians, live music and DJ.
