Anti-Poverty Forum Planning Committee will meet

    SUSSEX COUNTY-The Sussex County Anti-Poverty Forum Planning Committee, under the auspices of NORWESCAP and the Anti-Poverty Network (APN), which includes 300 organizations statewide, is hosting a forum on from 6-8:30 p.m., Nov. 10, to discuss poverty in Sussex County. The forum will be held at Manna House, a soup kitchen located on site at the Newton Presbyterian Church. The event will provide area residents with an opportunity to share their experiences with a panel of local elected public officials and business leaders and will seek to explore solutions to the issue of poverty at a local and a state level. Jon Shure, president of the New Jersey Policy Perspective (NJPP), will provide data on poverty on the state level. NJPP was started in 1997 because of the need for credible research and analysis on important issues facing New Jersey, including poverty, minimum wage legislation, and the need for "living wages." Invited participants for the forum include Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11)of the 11th Congressional District, Representative Scott Garrett of the 5th Congressional District, Senator Robert E. Littell, Assemblywoman Alison Littell-McHose, members of the Freeholder Board, mayors, a representative of the League of Municipalities, the Director of the Morris/Sussex/Warren Workforce Investment Board (WIB), Sussex County Chamber of Commerce President Tammie Horsfield and other business and civic leaders from Sussex County.
