Roger G. Ackerman

Roger G. Ackerman, 82, passed away at Barn Hill Care Center on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was 82.

Born in Wanaque, he was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte (Gainer) Ackerman. He has been a resident of Vernon for the past 14 years and prior to that had resided in West Milford, and Wanaque.

For many years, Roger was self employed as a roofer, retiring in 2001. He was a longtime senior member of the Mountain Creek Ski Patrol. He always enjoyed the time he would spend outdoors skiing and biking.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five siblings: Edward Ackerman, Elmer Ackerman, Giles Ackerman, Charlotte (Susie) Baird and Donald Ackerman; and a grandson, Tyler.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Hollingsworth of Temecula, Calif., Roger Ackerman of Mesa, Ariz., Judy Sullivan of Short Hills, and Ralph Ackerman of Temecula, Calif.; grandchildren, Matthew, Kelly, Shannon, Jordan, Garrett and Jenna; siblings: Clinton Ackerman of Butler, Earl Ackerman of Mt. Bethel, Pa., Mary Jane Lewis of Wantage, Grace Wolbrink of Allendale, Mich., and Frank Ackerman of Teaneck; a cousin Edith Seibel of Indianapolis, Ind., along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial visitation on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Rt. 94 Vernon.
