Robert J. Abraczinskas Sr. of Wantage, N.J., fondly known as “Mr. A.” to everybody, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021, at his residence. He was 88.
He was born in Catawissa, Pa., on March 28, 1933, to the late Evon and Mary (Micailitis) Abraczinskas.
Mr. A. had lived in Sussex, N.J., for the past 60 years. He graduated from Catawissa High School in Catawissa, Pa., and assisted his father in the family farm where helped to implement many aspects of the business.
Mr. A. earned his BA from Bloomsburg University and was a proud alumni. He attended William Paterson and Montclair State while studying for his master’s degree. He was a business accounting teacher at High Point Regional High School and retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Sussex and their Leisure Club. Mr. A. was an exempt member of Colesville Fire Department in Wantage. He had many treasured friends from Daytona Beach Group, Portland Bingo, St Monica’s Leisure Club and HPRHS fellow teachers and alumni.He valued his time with family and friends and was especially proud to have celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his late wife this past August.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Ann “Pat,” on Dec. 31, 2020; his brothers, Raymond, William and Evon A., Jr.; and his sister, Regina Filipowicz.
Mr. A. is survived hy his sons, Robert John Abraczinskas Jr. of Granbury, Texas, and William Joseph Abraczinskas and his fiancé, Dawn Britcher, of Spring City, Pa.; his daughter, Mary Ann Abraczinskas Romano of Robbinsville, N.J.; his brother, Dennis and his wife, Patricia, of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Zachery Peters and Justin Romano; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services with firematic services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, at Clove Cemetery in Wantage. Anyone attending the service is encouraged to park at the American Legion since the grave site is located directly next to their parking lot.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Colesville Fire Department, 1202 Route 23, Wantage, NJ 07871.
