Janette D. Matthew of Vernon passed away on March 29, 2023, at Newton Memorial Hospital. She was 65.
She was born in New Haven, Conn., to Joseph and Marie Matthew of North Haven, Conn.
Janette was known to many for her work in the hospitality industry before moving on to a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she continued to dedicate her life to serving others. She will be remembered for her kind and compassionate nature, which she demonstrated every day.
Janette is survived by her son, Shawn, of Richmond, Va., and one granddaughter. She is also survived by her significant other of 17 years, William Sublesky, of Sparta as well as her brothers, Steven Matthew of the Netherlands, Joseph Matthew Jr. of Cheshire, Conn., and Douglas Matthew of North Haven, Conn.; her sister, Paula Matthew of Hamden, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Matthew.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Janette’s life and legacy.
