YMCA holds Healthy Kids Days this weekend
SUSSEX COUNTY. The annual event is Saturday at the Y in Hardyston and Sunday at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps in Newton.

The Sussex County YMCA is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
The free, annual event features a variety of family friendly activities to encourage a healthy start to the summer season from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Y, 15 Wits End Road, Hardyson.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, it will be held at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps, 1035 Fairview Lake Road, Newton.
“It is so important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally,” said Corey Brown, executive director of the Sussex County Y, and Marc Koch, district executive director at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps.
“At the Y, we believe in providing resources to families to ensure that their children have access to what they need to reach their full potential, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great summer resources that the Y has to offer.”
Sponsored nationally by Eggland’s Best and locally by Thorlabs, Healthy Kids Day’s mission is to turn fun and play into lifelong memories.
Activities at the Y on Saturday include:
• Facility and camp tours.
• STEM activities.
• Free swim assessments.
• Family friendly obstacle course.
• Music & More and basketball class demonstrations.
• Healthy food grocery shopping.
• Face painting.
On Sunday at Fairview Lake, activities include:
• Archery and axe throwing.
• Climbing.
• Day camp open house.
• Arts & crafts.
• Discovery hike.
The Sussex County Y’s Healthy Kids Day also welcomes local organizations and a variety of vendors providing information and community wellness resources.
