High Point Regional High School won the Champions for Charity food drive, which collected a total of 2,320 pounds during the holidays.

The donated food was delivered to the Sussex County Food Pantry for sorting and distribution.

Joan Bruseo, director of the Sussex County Division of Social Services, called the total “very impressive.”

High Point Principal Jonathan Tallamy said the school was happy to participate again. It has done so since 2009, when Sussex County Clerk Jeff Parrott started the project.

A committee of eight students “led the charge, but it was a school-wide effort with staff, students, clubs and athletic teams participating in any way they could,” he said.
