Opera workshop will be offered by academy

Sparta — The Biryukov Academy of Art & Music will offer a summer opera singing workshop, beginning July 10, and running for four weekends, ending with a performance on Sunday, Aug. 2. Eight operatic scenes will be chosen, cast and rehearsed and staged by the staff. Barbara Smith-Davis, along with her husband, J.B. Davis, will conduct the workshop. Accompanying the Davises will be musical director/pianist Mary Pinto, who teaches musical theater at William Paterson University. Auditions are required to participate.
