Christmas Cantata features full chamber orchestra and choir

VERNON — Holy Counselor Lutheran Church in Vernon is presenting their annual Christmas Cantata concert on Sunday, Dec. 23, starting at 3 p.m.

Under the direction of music director June Tarantino, the choir, accompanied by a full chamber orchestra will present this free holiday family concert, open to all. Soloists and choir will be featured throughout Joseph Martin's, "Journey of Promises" cantata.

"Journey of Promises" incorporates carols and new anthems into a cantata. The worshipful narration by Pamela Martin traces the promise of the Messiah and then celebrates God's promise fulfilled in Jesus. The orchestration by Brant Adams provides the finishing touch to this cantata.

Holy Counselor is located near Mountain Creek off Route 94 at 68 Sand Hill Road, in Vernon. Admission to the concert is free, with a free-will offering opportunity. A reception with free homemade refreshments will be served afterward.
