CENTENARY'S WINTER FESTIVAL OF SHOWS

    Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performer’s Workshop (YPW) presents the Winter Festival of Shows Dec. 15-22.

    This season’s musical theatre extravaganza will feature Grease, The Wiz, and Christmas is Comin’ Uptown with all performances in the Little Theater on the Campus of Centenary College.

    One of most popular musicals, Grease will be performed on Friday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m.

    Winner of seven Tony Awards, including best mMusical, The Wiz makes its way to Hackettstown.

    In this adaptation of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, this Broadway musical sets Dorothy's adventures in the Land of Oz to music in a lively mixture of rock, gospel, and soul. Performance dates are Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 pm; Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m.

    Christmas is Comin’ Uptown includes Dickensian characters dancing and swinging to a Harlem beat culminating in a rousing gospel number.

    Performance dates are Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, Dec 21 at 4 p.m.and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m.

    YPW is led by Broadway film and television veteran Michael Blevin and is dedicated to the enrichment of young lives through experience in the theatre arts for cultivating young performers between the ages of 8 and 18. The program offers both formal training and production experience for young people.

    Tickets for the Young Performers Workshop Winter Festival of Shows are $12.50 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
