Blues artist to preform at LIve at High Point
MONTAGUE — Usually only a trio, blues recording artist Lee Delray will perform with a seven-piece band, featuring The S.I.T. horns from Stanhope and Mark Hamza on Hammond electric B3 organ, on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Live at High Point, located at 342 Shore Drive in Montague. A night of blues rockin’ rhythms, Delray will feature songs from his latest album "570-BLUES,” which has been well received by DJ's in more than 25 countries and 45 U.S. states.
Admission to the event is free to the public and a full menu will be available.
“Lee is an exceptional artist and we are pleased to be welcoming not only him, but also his special guests,” said Jim Golden, co-owner of High Point Golf Club. “We have been working on turning Live at High Point into an entertainment venue with a variety of events and musical talents, and with this event, we are really holding up our end of the bargain. It’s rare that we are able to bring horns to the stage and that adds a whole other element to the musical performance that shouldn’t be missed.”
Born in Florida and raised in New York City., Delray started playing guitar at age 11 after finding an old flat top in a back corner of his garage. He gave up the guitar one year later for the drums after seeing a Krupa/Rich showdown on The Johnny Carson Show, but that didn’t last long. DelRay was captivated by a performance he saw of Alvin Lee & Ten Years After doing “I’m Going Home” on PBS, and begged his dad to buy him an electric guitar.
After spending his youth playing in bands ranging in styles from rock-n-roll to punk, from oldies to country, Lee discovered the Blues. Or rather, the Blues discovered him via an old Muddy Waters Record given to him by a long-time friend and fellow musician Duke Lee.
In addition to critical praise, "570-BLUES" also has been picked up for syndication on Canadian Blues radio on over 225 stations. This will be one of Lee Delray's last regional shows before he is off to Memphis Tennessee to compete in the International Blues Challenge in January.
