Vernon U12A softball team finishes season

VERNON — The Vernon Girls U12-A Softball had a strong spring and summer season, finishing with a 22-11 record.

Victories against West Milford, Sparta, Blairstown, and N.J. Rocks were highlights of the season. The biggest highlight of the season occurred in a 3-2 loss to the Babe Ruth state power, Mount Olive.

Vernon battled Mount Olive in the Babe Ruth playoffs in June. In that game, Vernon had the tying and winning runs on base in the sixth inning. Vernon was led by the strong pitching of Franki Potocki, Melissa Lancellotti, and Victoria Grifone. Vernon was led offensively and defensively by Natalie Alheidt, Oliva Amorosi, Oliva Vizzini, Gabby Colon, Sammy Jennings, Danielle VanLuvender, Destiny Wynne, and Gianna Valsoney.
