Joseph John Arrotti

    Joseph John Arrotti, 78, passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Newton Medical Center, Newton, N.J. Joseph was born in Mount Pleasant, Pa., on Aug. 26, 1936, to the late Joseph J. and Angelene (nee Scacella) Arrotti. He resided in Scottdale, Pa., before moving to Vernon.

    Joseph received his master's degree in education and taught High School from 1961 to his retirement in 1998. He taught for 30 years at Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque, N.J. He began the wrestling program at Lakeland and coached for decades. Joseph enjoyed fishing and worked many summers on the Delaware River at Indian Head Canoes.

    He was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Anella Arrotti, his two brothers, Charles and Alfred Arrotti, and his sister, Mary DuBois (nee Arrotti).

    He is survived by his wife of 54 years, June Arrotti (nee Sheetz) of Vernon; his three daughters, Mary Arrotti of Denville, Kathleen von Essen of Vernon, Jo Anne Shuppon of Vernon; and his five grandchildren, CJ von Essen, Joseph Zazzara, Matthew von Essen, Maia von Essen, and Ryan Kate Shuppon.

    Relatives and friends will be received at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (for GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct.), on Monday, Aug. 24 from 7-9 p.m. and may attend funeral services on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
